Odisha Higher Education Department Pushes adoption of ‘Shaktishree’ App for student safety
Bhubaneswar, May 20: The Higher Education Department has directed all state public universities and government as well as aided colleges to actively adopt and promote the newly launched “Shaktishree” mobile application aimed at strengthening student safety and support systems across campuses.
In an official directive issued by Director of Higher Education Kaliprasanna Mahapatra, educational institutions have been asked to ensure wide awareness and maximum student onboarding on the digital platform.
The “Shaktishree” app has been designed as a comprehensive student-centric platform providing multiple support services. Key features include SOS emergency assistance, safety check-in facilities, access to institutional announcements, counselling support, and a real-time grievance redressal mechanism for students.
The department has instructed colleges and universities to encourage all eligible students to download and register on the application. Institutions have also been directed to take proactive measures to ensure effective engagement with the platform.
To boost awareness, principals and registrars have been advised to utilise classroom announcements, orientation programmes, official notices and institutional WhatsApp groups for outreach.
Officials said the initiative is aimed at improving campus safety, mental well-being and timely support services for students across Odisha’s higher education institutions.
