SJTA suspends servitor after scuffle inside Ratna Bhandar of Srimandir
Bhubaneswar, May 20: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has suspended servitor Kishan Mekap, also known as Narayan Mekap, from all seva and puja duties until further orders following an alleged physical altercation inside the Ratna Bhandar of the Jagannath Temple.
According to sources, the incident occurred during the ongoing inventory and related proceedings inside the temple treasury chamber. The verbal dispute soon escalated into a physical scuffle inside the ‘Bhandar Ghara’, triggering tension among servitors and officials present at the site.
Administrative officials and temple authorities immediately intervened and brought the situation under control before it could worsen further.
Following the incident, the Chief Administrator of SJTA issued an order suspending Kishan Mekap from performing all ritual and service-related duties in the temple until further instructions.
The Chief Administrator clarified that the altercation stemmed from personal reasons between the two individuals and asserted that the ongoing counting and inventory work inside the Ratna Bhandar was not affected or disrupted due to the incident.
