Ganjam youth killed in drone attack in Moscow amid Russia-Ukraine conflict
Bhubaneswar, May 18: A youth from Odisha’s Ganjam district was reportedly killed in a drone attack in Moscow amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, leaving his family and villagers in deep shock.
The deceased has been identified as A. Rameya, a resident of Madhabandha village under Chikiti block in Ganjam district. According to reports, Rameya had travelled to Russia nearly a month ago in search of employment opportunities and was staying in Moscow when the attack took place.
Sources said he lost his life in a drone strike carried out during the continuing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be officially disclosed. News of his death spread rapidly in his native village, casting a pall of gloom over the area. Family members were devastated after receiving information about the tragic incident.
Confirming the development, Keerthi Vasan V said the district administration is in constant touch with the Indian Embassy regarding the matter. He informed that necessary steps are being taken to facilitate the return of Rameya’s mortal remains to Odisha at the earliest.
The administration is also extending support to the bereaved family during the difficult time. Further details regarding the incident and repatriation process are awaited.
