Woman dies after brutal attack over land dispute in Cuttack’s Mahanga
Bhubaneswar, May 18: A woman died after being brutally attacked with sharp weapons over a suspected land dispute in Mahanga block of Cuttack district on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Swarnalata Sahu, a resident of Akarpada village under Mahanga block. According to reports, the incident occurred following a long-standing dispute over land between two sides of the family.
Family members alleged that Swarnalata was attacked by her uncle-in-law, identified as Indramani Sahu, along with his brothers. The accused allegedly assaulted her with an axe and other sharp weapons, inflicting severe injuries on multiple parts of her body, including her head, neck and chest.
Following the brutal assault, Swarnalata collapsed on the spot in a critical condition. Local residents and family members immediately rushed her to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for treatment. However, despite efforts by doctors, she succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
The shocking incident has created tension in the area, with locals demanding strict action against those involved in the attack. Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are examining the circumstances surrounding the land dispute.
