Bhubaneswar, April 17: In a shocking incident, a young couple was found hanging from a tree on the outskirts of Kaliaposi village under Thakurmunda police station limits on Friday morning, triggering panic in the area.

According to reports, local residents first noticed the bodies while passing through the village outskirts early in the day. A water bottle and a college bag were found lying near the spot, raising suspicion. The villagers immediately alerted the police.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the deceased were in a relationship. The girl hailed from Kaliaposi village, while the youth was from Sunaposi area under Karanjia police limits. Police suspect that personal issues related to their relationship may have led the couple to take the extreme step.

On receiving information, Thakurmunda police, along with fire service personnel, rushed to the spot and initiated an inquiry. The bodies were brought down and later sent for post-mortem examination.

Officials stated that the exact cause of death and circumstances surrounding the incident will be confirmed after the post-mortem report and detailed investigation. Meanwhile, police are also questioning locals and examining evidence found at the scene to piece together the sequence of events leading to the tragedy.
