Raja Sahani sent back to jail after police remand ends
Bhubaneswar, April 16: The seven-day police remand of notorious criminal Raja Sahani, who had earlier escaped from Choudwar Jail, ended on Thursday, officials said.
According to reports, Sahani was produced before the JMFC Court in Cuttack under tight security by Karnataka Police. Following the completion of his remand period, he was sent back to judicial custody by the Karnataka Police team.
During the week-long remand, Karnataka Police reportedly interrogated Sahani extensively and also took him to his home state for further questioning. He is suspected to be involved in a sensational ₹20 crore jewellery robbery from a showroom in Mysore, which allegedly took place after his escape from jail.
Investigators believe that crucial leads related to the high-value dacoity have emerged during his interrogation. Officials are now working to trace other individuals linked to the crime and uncover the broader network involved.
Meanwhile, the Cuttack Commissionerate Police is likely to seek his remand soon in connection with multiple cases registered against him in Odisha. Further investigation into his activities is ongoing.
