Three arrested for sword attack on sweet shop owner in Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar, Mar 25: In a shocking incident in Bhubaneswar, three individuals were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly attacking a sweet shop owner with a sword at Samantarapur Chhak under Shree Lingaraj Police Station limits. The attack has raised concerns over rising violent disputes in the city.
The accused have been identified as Maheshwar Sahu, alias Gendua, and his two associates. According to police reports, the incident took place on March 5 at a sweet shop named ‘Dilu’ in the busy Samantarapur area.
Sources said the trio had visited the shop to purchase sweets and requested spoons. A heated argument broke out when the shop owner provided plastic spoons instead of what they demanded. The situation escalated rapidly, and the accused allegedly attacked the shop owner, Dilu Behera, with a sword.
The victim sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a local hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. Police have confirmed that the main accused, Gendua, has a criminal history, with multiple cases registered against him at Badagada and Shree Lingaraj police stations. Further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
