Odisha Govt sanctions ₹1 crore for new Brahma Taladhwaja chariot of Lord Baladevjew

Bhubaneswar, Feb 25: In a significant move to preserve temple traditions, the Government of Odisha on Wednesday approved a grant of ₹1 crore for the construction of a new Brahma Taladhwaja chariot of the revered Lord Baladevjew Temple in Kendrapara district. The decision follows recent difficulties in the movement of the existing chariot, which caused delays during key rituals and festivals.

Law, Works and Excise Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan stated that the 14 wheels of the current chariot were in poor condition, leading to operational hurdles. Due to these issues, the chariot failed to reach the Mausi Maa Temple on schedule, resulting in delays of up to two days. Similar disruptions were reported during the Bahuda Yatra.

To avoid recurrence of such problems, the state government has sanctioned funds to ensure timely construction of a new, sturdy chariot. The Law Department has also issued an independent directive to facilitate smooth execution of the project.

The Minister emphasized that the grant would greatly benefit devotees and help uphold the rich religious heritage associated with Lord Baladevjew’s annual ceremonies.
