Two youths killed in hit-and-run accident on NH-16 in Khurda
Bhubaneswar, Jan 9: In a tragic road accident, two youths lost their lives after the scooter they were riding was hit by an unidentified vehicle near Dadhimachhagadia Square on National Highway-16 under Sadar police limits in Khurda district on Monday. The deceased have been identified as Bikash Baral and Shubhransu Sundaray, both residents of Sanahantuad village in Banapur.
According to reports, the duo was travelling from Banapur to Bhubaneswar when the mishap occurred. They were reportedly heading to attend a job interview, making the incident even more heartbreaking for their families. Preliminary findings suggest that the impact of the collision was severe, leaving the scooter completely damaged and unrecognisable.
Eyewitnesses claimed that the unknown vehicle hit the scooter at high speed and fled the scene immediately after the crash. Local residents rushed to the spot and informed the police. Upon receiving the information, police arrived at the site, seized the damaged scooter, and shifted the bodies for post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, the exact circumstances leading to the accident remain unclear. Police have launched an investigation to trace the offending vehicle and determine the cause of the fatal mishap.
