Commissionerate Police issues guidelines for safe New Year’s eve celebrations in Bhubaneswar-Cuttack
Bhubaneswar, Dec 31: Ahead of New Year’s Eve celebrations, the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police has issued a comprehensive set of guidelines for event organisers as well as the general public to ensure safety, discipline, and a peaceful festive atmosphere.
As per the advisory, organisers of parties, concerts, DJ events, and similar programmes must obtain prior permission from the police. They have been directed to strictly adhere to approved timings, prescribed noise limits, and venue capacity norms. Special emphasis has been laid on ensuring the safety of women and children, with separate and adequate arrangements mandated. Organisers are also required to cooperate fully with police checks and supervision.
In addition, hotels, clubs, and restaurants hosting New Year’s Eve events must possess valid licences and permits. Only cultural programmes will be allowed, and the number of guests should not exceed the venue’s capacity. Entry must be restricted to authorised guests. Installation of CCTV cameras, deployment of private security personnel, and compliance with fire safety norms have been made mandatory.
The police have also issued a public advisory urging citizens to avoid drunk driving and instead use designated drivers, cabs, or public transport. People have been asked to follow traffic rules, avoid speeding, triple riding, and reckless behaviour, and maintain decorum in public places. The advisory further urges citizens to avoid overcrowded areas, obey police instructions, refrain from bursting crackers in restricted zones, and report any suspicious activity to the police immediately.
