Class XI student collapses, dies during school sports event in Sundargarh
Bhubaneswar, Dec 31: A tragic incident occurred at the Eklavya Model Residential School in Bhawanipur of Sundargarh district, where a Class XI student collapsed and died while participating in the school’s annual sports meet. The incident took place during the 400-metre relay race, casting a pall of gloom over the campus and the local community.
The deceased student has been identified as Jaydeep Sagar Beka, a resident of Bhawanipur block. According to reports, Jaydeep had joined the residential school only six months ago and was actively taking part in the sports event. While running in the first round of the relay race, he suddenly collapsed on the track, alarming fellow students and teachers present at the venue.
School authorities immediately rushed Jaydeep to the Sundargarh Government Medical College and Hospital for emergency treatment. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival, leaving his family and classmates in deep shock.
The sudden demise of the young student has deeply affected the school community. Jaydeep’s mother is reportedly inconsolable after receiving the devastating news. Following the incident, several officials, including the school principal, the District Welfare Officer, and the ITDA Project Administrator, visited the hospital to express their condolences and extend support to the bereaved family.
