Bhubaneswar, Nov 7: The body of a young man identified as Chinmaya Samal was recovered under mysterious circumstances from a guest house in Khuntia Sahi area of Puri town on Friday, sparking suspicion of foul play.

According to police sources, Chinmaya’s body was found in a sitting position inside a room at Radha Krishna Nivas Guest House. During the search, investigators seized narcotic substances and used injection syringes from the scene, raising doubts of a possible drug overdose.

The body was sent to the Puri District Headquarters Hospital for autopsy, which will help ascertain the exact cause of death. Preliminary inquiries revealed that Chinmaya had recently been staying at a drug de-addiction centre along with friends before checking into the guest house.

Chinmaya’s father has alleged foul play, demanding a detailed investigation into the circumstances leading to his son’s death.

Puri SP Prateek Singh confirmed that the police have registered a case and are conducting a thorough probe. “We are awaiting the postmortem report to determine the next course of action,” the SP stated.
