Elephant dies from injuries after ingesting crude bomb in Odisha forest
Bhubaneswar, Feb 13: A wounded elephant, which received treatment from a team of veterinary experts, tragically succumbed to its injuries in the Bharatpur area of Chandaka Wildlife Sanctuary late Monday night.
The elephant sustained severe injuries after ingesting a homemade explosive device planted by poachers to target wild boars in the forest. The blast severely damaged the elephant's mouth, including its tongue and tooth.
Forest officials spotted the injured pachyderm on Monday within the forest. A specialized team from OUAT and Nandankanan worked tirelessly to provide medical care to the elephant. Despite their efforts, the animal passed away late Monday night.
