Odisha Assembly Deputy Speaker Rajanikanth Singh resigns

Bhubaneswar, Nov 8: Rajanikanth Singh, the Deputy Speaker of the Odisha Assembly on Wednesday tendered his resignation from his position citing "personal grounds." Singh formally submitted his resignation to Speaker Pramila Mallik at the Odisha Assembly.
Having been a member of the Odisha Assembly since 2004, Singh has held the role of Deputy Speaker since June 2019. He is a four-time MLA representing the Angul Assembly Constituency. Prior to his role as Deputy Speaker, he served as the Minister for Mines from 2012 to 2014.
In a statement to the media, Singh explained, "I have resigned from my post in order to focus on serving the people of my constituency. It had become challenging to actively engage in party activities while holding the Deputy Speaker's position. This decision was pending for a while, but I remain committed to working for the betterment of the party and the organization."
