Bhubaneswar, Sept 1: The flood situation in Odisha remains under control, even as relief, rescue, response and restoration operations continue across affected areas. While conditions have improved in several locations, fresh heavy rainfall in parts of Mayurbhanj has caused localised impacts, prompting authorities to maintain close surveillance and preparedness.

In Jajpur district, Dasarathpur block remains affected, with 19 gram panchayats and 62 villages impacted. A total of 7,745 people have been affected, while 22 relief camps are currently operational.

In Mayurbhanj, 18 blocks, 48 gram panchayats and 84 villages, along with two wards of Baripada Municipality, have been affected. Around 2,763 people have been impacted and 2,076 persons evacuated. Eleven relief camps are functioning and providing shelter to the evacuated population.

The camps are equipped with safe drinking water, sanitation, lighting, food and medical assistance. Special care is being taken for children, pregnant women, elderly persons and persons with disabilities.

As part of the ongoing response, 22 teams have been deployed in Jajpur, Baleshwar and Mayurbhanj. The deployment includes ODRAF and Fire & Emergency Services teams. Overall, 157 response teams have been deployed so far.

The State recorded average rainfall of 8.9 mm in the last 24 hours, with Bangriposi recording the highest 309.2 mm.
