Suspended BJP youth leader Prakash Paswan arrested in Bihar
Bhubaneswar, Aug 28: Suspended BJP youth leader Prakash Paswan (35) was arrested by Rourkela Police in Bihar on Wednesday, 11 days after he allegedly went into hiding in connection with the Panposh Circuit House firearm seizure case.
According to police sources, Paswan was apprehended from Samastipur in Bihar. He had allegedly been absconding since August 14 following the recovery of firearms and live ammunition from the government Circuit House in Rourkela.
Paswan is alleged to have played a key role in sheltering criminals along with firearms and ammunition at the Circuit House. Following his arrest, police have initiated steps to bring him back to Rourkela for further interrogation.
A non-bailable warrant had earlier been issued against Paswan by the Panposh SDJM Court in connection with the case.
Paswan, who was serving as a state executive member of the BJP Yuva Morcha before his suspension, came under the scanner after RN Pali police arrested two criminals allegedly carrying firearms and live bullets from the Circuit House. Subsequently, police arrested five more persons in connection with the case and recovered additional firearms and ammunition.
Police are expected to question Paswan to ascertain his alleged role and establish the circumstances surrounding the presence of criminals and weapons at the government facility.
