Odia couple, two-year-old daughter missing in Nepal floods
Bhubaneswar, Aug 28: An Odia couple and their two-year-old daughter have gone missing amid the devastating floods in Nepal, triggering concern among their family members and relatives in Odisha.
The missing family has been identified as Gunnam Jayakrishna, his wife Gunnam Sai Bindu Kumari and their two-year-old daughter. The family hails from the Sarala Jampali area of Bargarh district.
According to their relatives, Jayakrishna was working at a hydroelectric project in Nepal and was residing there with his wife and daughter. Communication with the family was reportedly snapped after flash floods wreaked havoc in several parts of Nepal. Despite repeated attempts, family members have been unable to establish contact with them, raising fears about their safety.
Bargarh District Collector Aditya Goyal confirmed the development and said the district administration has alerted the state government. He said officials are in constant touch with the family and are making all possible efforts to facilitate their safe rescue and return.
The incident comes days after two tourists from Khordha district were also reported missing following flash floods in Nepal. With the latest case, at least five people from Odisha are now reportedly missing in the Nepal floods, adding to growing concerns among families back home.
