NEET aspirant from Odisha gets exam centre shifted to Bhubaneswar after NTA intervention

Bhubaneswar, June 20: In a major relief for an Odisha-based NEET-UG aspirant and her family, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has revised the candidate’s examination centre for the June 21 re-test, shifting it from Dehradun in Uttarakhand to Bhubaneswar following appeals from her parents and veterans’ organisations.

The student, Sanjana Sanjibanee, had appeared for the NEET-UG examination on May 3 at the College of Agriculture under OUAT in Bhubaneswar. However, while downloading her admit card for the re-test, she was surprised to find that her examination centre had been allotted at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Raipur, in Dehradun, nearly 1,500 kilometres away from her home.

The last-minute allotment created significant anxiety for the family, as arranging travel and accommodation at such short notice was extremely difficult. With the examination scheduled just a day later, the situation left the aspirant and her parents deeply concerned.

Seeking a resolution, Sanjana’s father, Sanjay Kumar Biswal, an ex-serviceman, approached the Indian Ex-Services League (IESL), Odisha, and requested intervention. The issue soon gained attention after Veterans’ Club Odisha highlighted the matter on social media platform X and urged the Ministry of Education and the NTA to take immediate corrective action.

Following the representations, the NTA reviewed the case and issued a fresh admit card, restoring the candidate’s examination centre to Bhubaneswar.

The decision brought immense relief to the family. Veterans’ Club Odisha expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Education, the NTA and all concerned authorities for their prompt response, stating that the timely intervention ensured the student could appear for the examination without unnecessary hardship. The case highlights the importance of swift administrative action in addressing genuine concerns of students.
