President Murmu to dedicate ₹732-crore railway multi-tracking projects to nation
Bhubaneswar, June 19: In a major boost to railway infrastructure and connectivity in Odisha, President Droupadi Murmu will dedicate two important railway multi-tracking projects worth over ₹732 crore to the nation at Rairangpur on June 20 in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Developed under East Coast Railway, the projects are expected to significantly enhance line capacity, reduce congestion and improve operational efficiency on some of the busiest rail corridors in the state. The initiatives will strengthen Odisha’s rail network and support its growing industrial and economic activities.
The first project, the Jakhapura–Jajpur Keonjhar Road–Baitarani Road Multi-tracking Project, has been completed at a cost of ₹323 crore over a length of 19 km. As part of the larger Bhadrak–Nergundi Multi-tracking Project, it will ease congestion on the busy Howrah–Chennai main line, improve punctuality and facilitate faster movement of passenger and freight trains.
The second project, the Hindol Road–Meramandali Multi-tracking Project, has been completed at a cost of ₹409 crore over 27 km. A component of the Budhapank–Salegaon Multi-tracking Project, it will enhance train handling capacity and support seamless transportation of coal, steel and other industrial commodities.
Together, these projects will improve logistics, boost industrial growth and advance the vision of Viksit Odisha and Viksit Bharat.
