Bhubaneswar, June 20: President Droupadi Murmu on Saturday reiterated India’s long-standing commitment to peace, stating that global issues can be resolved through dialogue and mutual understanding rather than conflict. She made the remarks while addressing a public gathering at Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj district during the second anniversary celebrations of the Odisha government.

The President shared the stage with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and highlighted India's role as a nation that has consistently advocated peace and cooperation on the global stage. She said that whenever the world faced wars, tensions or uncertainties, India stood firm in promoting harmony and constructive engagement.

Emphasising the importance of peaceful solutions, Murmu noted that discussions and negotiations remain the most effective means of resolving disputes. She said India's philosophy has always been rooted in dialogue, mutual respect and international cooperation.

The President also praised Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, stating that India’s global standing and influence have grown significantly in recent years. She commended his efforts toward national development, welfare initiatives and strengthening the country’s position in international affairs.

Referring to the COVID-19 pandemic, Murmu said India demonstrated remarkable administrative and healthcare capabilities by carrying out one of the world's largest vaccination drives. She also highlighted India's support to several countries through vaccine assistance during the global health crisis.

The President further noted that India has consistently extended help to nations affected by natural disasters and humanitarian emergencies. Such actions, she said, reflect the country's commitment to global solidarity, compassion and shared progress.

Her address underscored India’s vision of peace, cooperation and humanitarian service as key pillars of its engagement with the world.
