Bhubaneswar, June 20: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday praised the BJP-led Odisha government, stating that the state has entered a new era of rapid development under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. Addressing a large gathering at Rairangpur during celebrations marking two years of the state government, the Prime Minister said Odisha is witnessing unprecedented growth across multiple sectors.
Modi said welfare programmes aimed at improving the lives of the poor are bringing tangible benefits to people across the state. He noted that Odisha is increasingly emerging as a major destination for investment, industrial expansion and economic activity, creating new employment opportunities for its youth.
Highlighting the Centre’s vision of “Purvodaya” or the Rise of Eastern India, the Prime Minister said the development of eastern states is crucial to India’s overall progress. He remarked that regions once considered backward are now becoming engines of growth and development.
The Prime Minister emphasized that Odisha possesses immense potential owing to its long coastline, abundant mineral resources, agricultural strength and talented young population. To unlock this potential, the Centre and the state government are working in close coordination on infrastructure and industrial projects.
He pointed to significant investments in railway expansion, road connectivity, economic corridors and port development. According to Modi, sectors such as energy, semiconductors, green energy and advanced manufacturing are attracting major investments in the state.
