Bhubaneswar, July 30: The Odisha Legislative Assembly has taken serious note of an alleged breach of privilege complaint filed by Narla MLA Manorama Mohanty against the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Kesinga and members of his police team. The Assembly Secretariat has termed the matter urgent, prompting the Speaker to seek a detailed report from the state Home Department.

According to the complaint, the police team, led by the Kesinga SDPO, allegedly entered the MLA's official government quarters (No. DS 15/2) at the MLA Colony in Unit-IV, Bhubaneswar, without permission while the Assembly session was in progress. Mohanty alleged that the police personnel damaged the main gate, doors and windows of the residence and misbehaved with her daughter and domestic help during the operation.

Treating the allegations with seriousness, the Speaker has directed the Home Department to submit a comprehensive factual report on the incident within 15 days.

In a letter dated July 28, Assembly Secretary Satyabrata Rout informed the Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department about the Speaker's directive and requested immediate action to ensure timely submission of the report.

The report will form the basis for further consideration by the Assembly regarding the alleged breach of legislative privilege and the conduct of the police officials involved in the incident.
