Odisha launches ‘Ama Saathi’ WhatsApp chatbot for easy access to revenue services
Bhubaneswar, Aug 19: Odisha Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari on Wednesday launched ‘Ama Saathi’, a WhatsApp-based chatbot aimed at making important revenue services accessible to citizens without requiring them to visit government offices.
The chatbot can be accessed through the WhatsApp number 9437292000 and will initially provide 16 services of the Revenue Department. Two additional services are expected to be incorporated at a later stage.
Through the platform, citizens can apply for land mutation, change of land category (Kisam), marriage registration, society registration, and caste, income and residential certificates. They can also access land records and patta-related information available on the Bhulekh portal.
The chatbot will allow users to submit applications digitally and track their status from their homes, making the process more convenient and transparent.
According to the department, the digital service has already facilitated more than one crore corrections, highlighting the growing adoption of technology in revenue-related services.
Launching the initiative, Pujari said the platform was developed keeping in mind the widespread use of WhatsApp across Odisha. The state has an estimated 1.65 crore WhatsApp users, making the messaging platform an effective channel for delivering government services.
The minister said ‘Ama Saathi’ would significantly reduce the need for citizens to visit government offices and help save time and resources. He added that the service would be particularly useful during natural disasters, enabling people to access essential revenue services from their homes even when physical movement is difficult.
