Woman teacher goes missing during census duty in Mayurbhanj
Bhubaneswar, April 20: A schoolteacher from Dhenkinenjia Upper Primary School under Baripada block in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district has gone missing while on official census duty, triggering concern among the local community and education authorities.
According to reports, the teacher has been untraceable since yesterday and her mobile phone remains switched off, raising apprehensions about her safety. Following the incident, the Mayurbhanj District Teachers’ Coordination Committee lodged a formal complaint at Baripada Sadar Police Station, prompting the registration of an FIR.
Acting swiftly, police have initiated efforts to trace her whereabouts, including mobile tracking to determine her last known location. The Block Education Officer (BEO) and District Education Officer (DEO) have been informed about the situation. The DEO has also held discussions with the District Collector and Superintendent of Police to expedite the search operation.
The district administration, in coordination with local police, has launched an intensive search drive to locate the missing teacher and ensure her safe return. The incident has sparked anxiety among fellow teachers and residents, with many urging authorities to act swiftly and strengthen safety measures for personnel engaged in field duties.
