Bhubaneswar, Jan 12: Tension prevailed in Ganjam district on Monday after a couple lost their lives in a road accident involving a private bus and a scooter near a Kali Temple at Lanjia village under Digapahandi police station limits. The tragic incident triggered public outrage, leading to a road blockade and severe traffic disruption in the area.
According to reports, the couple was travelling on a scooter when a private bus allegedly rammed into their vehicle head-on near the temple. However, doctors declared both victims dead on arrival.
The incident sparked anger among locals, who gathered at the accident site and blocked the main road, demanding immediate action against the bus driver and stricter road safety measures. The protest resulted in long traffic snarls, with vehicles stranded on both sides of the road for several hours.
