Humane Sagar death case: co-singer, music director seek anticipatory bail from High Court
Bhubaneswar, Dec 30: The mysterious death of popular Odia singer Humane Sagar has taken a significant legal turn, with fellow singer Arpita Choudhury and music director Somesh Satpathy approaching the High Court seeking anticipatory bail. Their move follows a police complaint filed by Humane’s mother, Shefali Suna, at the Markatnagar police station, in which she accused the duo along with seven others of being responsible for her son’s death.
According to the complaint, Shefali alleged that Humane was subjected to prolonged physical and mental harassment by Arpita, Somesh and others, which ultimately led to his untimely demise. She further claimed that financial disputes and vested interests played a role in the alleged torture meted out to the singer. Based on her complaint, police have initiated a preliminary inquiry into the matter.
Humane Sagar, widely admired for his soulful voice and emotional renditions, passed away on November 17 while undergoing treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar. His sudden death sent shockwaves across the Odia music fraternity and triggered widespread demands for a fair and transparent investigation.
With the accused now seeking legal protection, the case has entered a crucial phase, as the High Court is expected to hear the anticipatory bail pleas amid growing public attention.
