CBI chargesheets 16, including mastermind, in Odisha Police SI exam scam
Bhubaneswar, Dec 29: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a chargesheet against 16 individuals, including the alleged kingpin Shankar Prusty, in connection with the high-profile Odisha Police Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment examination scandal. The chargesheet, recently submitted before the court, outlines detailed evidence indicating large-scale manipulation of the examination process through unfair means.
Among those named in the chargesheet are Shankar Prusty, Muna Mohanty, Suresh Nayak, Soumya Priyadarshini, Rinku Maharana, Biranchi Nayak and Nitish Kumar, along with several others. Of the total accused, nine were earlier arrested by the Odisha Crime Branch, while the remaining seven were produced before the court by the CBI during the course of the investigation.
According to investigators, Shankar Prusty, a resident of Hinjili, maintained links with influential politicians, senior government officials and police personnel. He allegedly used his firms—Pansoft Tech Private Limited and Kedarnath Technologies—to manipulate examination procedures and outcomes. His close associate, Muna Mohanty, reportedly played a key role in identifying candidates and arranging their training in Andhra Pradesh.
The scam surfaced after Berhampur police arrested 114 candidates and six agents while they were allegedly being taken to Andhra Pradesh for the written examination. The CBI has stated that further investigation is ongoing, with indications that more people may be involved.
