Cuttack police rescue kidnapped man, three arrested in ransom case
Bhubaneswar, Dec 29: In a major breakthrough, Cuttack police on Monday successfully rescued a 42-year-old man who was kidnapped from the Nua Bazar area and arrested three persons involved in the crime. The development was confirmed by Cuttack Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo.
According to police, the victim is a resident of the Jagatsinghpur district under the Biridi police station limits. He was abducted on December 27, 2025, after which the kidnappers demanded a ransom of ₹2 lakh from his family for his release. The accused allegedly moved the victim across different locations to avoid detection.
The victim’s family approached Madhupatna Police Station in Cuttack and lodged a formal complaint, prompting an immediate investigation. Acting on technical inputs and field intelligence, police traced the movements of the accused and identified three suspects—two from Bolangir district and one from Subarnapur district.
Based on credible information, police conducted coordinated operations across districts, arrested all three accused, and safely rescued the victim. The man has since been reunited with his family.
DCP Dnyandeo stated that the accused had kept the victim in multiple locations across districts. Further investigation is underway, and all three will be produced before the court on Monday.
