Aide of former MLA Bikram Panda, released from police custody in Pitabash Panda murder case
Bhubaneswar, Oct 25: Sudarshan, an aide of former MLA Bikram Panda, was released from police custody late Thursday night after surrendering at Baidyanathpur Police Station in connection with the murder of BJP leader and lawyer Pitabash Panda.
During his custody, Sudarshan was questioned about financial transactions linked to Bikram Panda, who remains a key accused in this high-profile case. Investigators have uncovered a shocking Rs 50 lakh deal reportedly orchestrated for carrying out Pitabash Panda’s murder, with an advance payment of Rs 10 lakh already made.
The Berhampur police cracked the case 17 days after the killing, arresting 12 accused, including Bikram Panda, the BJD Ganjam District President, and former Mayor Shibshankar Das, alias Pintu, who are considered prime suspects in the conspiracy.
Authorities continue to probe the financial and logistical links behind the murder, examining the roles of all accused to ensure a thorough investigation. Police officials have stated that further interrogations and forensic analysis are ongoing to uncover the full network behind the crime. The case has drawn significant attention due to the involvement of political figures and the large sums of money allegedly involved in the conspiracy.
