Revenue Inspector assaulted inside office in Bhadrak, accused booked
Bhubaneswar, Mar 18: A shocking incident of assault on a government official has been reported from Bhadrak district, where a Revenue Inspector was allegedly attacked inside his office under Chandabali tehsil on Wednesday.
According to reports, Tapas Ranjan Jena, Revenue Inspector of Sarana under Chandabali, was engaged in routine office work when a youth identified as Subash Das entered the premises. Das, a resident of Jagannathpur village, reportedly asked the official to carry out an illegal task.
When Jena refused to comply with the request, the situation quickly escalated. The accused allegedly dragged the officer out of his office chamber and physically assaulted him in full public view, even as other staff members and visitors were present. The entire incident was reportedly captured on CCTV cameras, and the footage has since gone viral, drawing widespread concern.
Following the attack, the injured official was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. His condition is said to be stable.
A complaint has been lodged with the Odisha Police at Chandabali police station. Tehsildar Bhabatosh Mallik has taken serious note of the incident and assured that strict action will be taken against the accused after a thorough investigation.
