College student found murdered in Dhenkanal forest; police probe underway
Bhubaneswar, Mar 19: A shocking incident has come to light in Dhenkanal district, where a young college student was found brutally murdered in a forest area on Thursday, sending shockwaves across the region.
The victim, identified as Ankita Priyadarshini Barik, a first-year student of Kamakhyanagar Women’s College, hailed from Marthapur village. Her blood-stained body was discovered in the forest near Saruali village under Kamakhyanagar police limits.
According to reports, Ankita had appeared for an examination at her college on Wednesday but did not return home afterward, raising concern among her family members. A search was launched, and her body was found the following day, with her college bag lying nearby, indicating possible foul play.
Police from Odisha Police reached the spot and began an investigation into the incident. Preliminary findings suggest that the case may be linked to a personal relationship, though officials have not ruled out other angles.
