Cuttack Police issues guidelines for peaceful and safe Ganesh Puja celebrations

Bhubaneswar, Aug 19: With Ganesh Puja festivities approaching, the Cuttack Police Commissionerate has issued a comprehensive set of guidelines to ensure safety, crowd management, and noise control during the celebrations.
At a preparatory meeting, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo announced that all puja mandaps must use high-quality or new electrical wiring and keep fire extinguishers on site to minimize fire hazards. Strict adherence to these safety measures will be mandatory.
The meeting also finalized the Ganesh Visarjan schedule. This year, the immersion processions will take place in three phases—August 31 (first phase), September 7, and September 14 (second and third phases). A separate date will be announced for the immersion of Budha Ganesh idols.
The Commissionerate has directed puja committees to seek prior permission from local police stations and ensure that the celebrations retain a spiritual atmosphere without excessive displays of modernity. All cultural programmes must conclude by 10 pm, and obscenity in any form will not be permitted.
Additionally, the use of sound limiters has been made compulsory during immersion processions to keep noise levels under control.
Appealing to the citizens, the Police Commissioner urged everyone to uphold brotherhood and communal harmony, ensuring that the Ganesh Puja festivities in Cuttack remain peaceful and joyous.
