ORFA announced teams for Junior National Rugby Championship

ORFA announced teams for Junior National Rugby Championship

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Rugby Football Association (ORFA) announced a 12-member team each for the State boys’ and girls’ team to participate in the Junior National Rugby 7's Championship, scheduled to be held at Uttarakhand from 7-14 July 2925. 

The players selection and trial camp was held here from 31st May 2025 till the team’s departure. Wherein 50 girls and 55 boys from across the State took part.  The girls’ team proceeded on Sunday and the boy’s team departed on July 10th.

The girls’ teams will be accompanied by coach Rajkishor Murmu, Manager Rajani Sabara and Physio Kumkum. While, the coach Dhiren Kumar Rout, manager Muna Murmu and Physio Arjun Singh will join the boy’s team.

Altogether 27 girls’ teams divided in nine groups to play the league round matches, Odisha placed in Group-B alongside Manipur and Uttar Pradesh.

“In the last edition our boys team bagged the gold medal, while the girls team won the silver medal, the coaches and players put their best in the camp, I am hopeful that our teams will put up a tough fight in the Junior National championships, " said ORFA Secretary U K Mohanty.

Girls Team: Ranjulata Naik, Raimani Murmu, Mamali Singh, Barsarani Pradhan, Sandhyarani Biswal, Anita Murmu, Basi Oram, Manisha Malhi, Namita Hembram, Sumitra Murmu, Sonali Marandi, Rajkishor Murmu (Coach), Rajani Sabara (Manager), Kumkum (Physio).

Boys team: Bidyadhar Majhi, Charan Hembram, Rahul Majhi, Chinmay Kumar Naik, Suraj Kumar Dora, Eswar Pujhari, Mantu Tudu, Shiba Soren, Bharat Kisan, Attma Murmu, Subasha Hansda, Subhapati Naik, Dhiren Kumar Rout (coach), Muna Murmu (Manager), Arjun Singh (Physio).
