Bhubaneswar, April 6: A tragic road accident claimed three lives after a speeding truck rammed into a stationary vehicle on National Highway 16 late Sunday night in Balasore district.

The mishap occurred near Modern Hotel at Dahisada under the jurisdiction of Soro police limits. According to preliminary reports, a truck had broken down and was parked along the roadside when another truck, travelling from Balasore towards Soro, crashed into it from behind at high speed.

The impact of the collision was extremely severe, leaving the rear truck completely mangled and crushed beyond recognition. Three occupants inside the vehicle were trapped in the twisted wreckage, suffering fatal injuries.

On being alerted, firefighters from the Soro Fire Service Station rushed to the scene equipped with gas cutters and carried out a rescue operation. The victims were extricated from the damaged vehicle and immediately transported to Soro Hospital in a National Highway ambulance. However, doctors declared all three brought dead.

Police from Soro arrived at the site, seized both vehicles, and launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. The identities of the deceased have not yet been officially confirmed.
