IMD issues heatwave and thunderstorm alerts across Odisha districts

Bhubaneswar, April 24: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a series of orange and yellow alerts for multiple districts across Odisha, warning of severe heatwave conditions and impending thunderstorms over the coming days.
April 25:
An orange warning has been issued for Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Boudh, Balangir, Sonepur, and Sundargarh due to likely heatwave conditions. A yellow warning has been issued for Nuapada, Bargarh, Kalahandi, Deogarh, Angul, and nearby districts.
April 26:
Orange alert continues for Balangir and Sambalpur, while a yellow warning is in effect for Sonepur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Boudh, Nuapada, and Bargarh.
April 27:
Yellow warnings for heatwaves are issued in Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, and Boudh districts.
April 28:
Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds (40–50 kmph) are expected in Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Koraput, and Malkangiri. Other districts may face gusty winds up to 40 kmph with thunderstorms.
April 29:
Severe weather including hailstorms, heavy rainfall, and gusty winds (50–60 kmph) is forecasted for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhargarh, Balasore, Bhadrak, and Ganjam. Koraput may witness similar conditions with slightly lower wind speeds (40–50 kmph).
