Constable injured in attack by accused inside Muribahal police station in Balangir

Bhubaneswar, April 23: In a shocking incident, a police constable was seriously injured after being attacked by an accused inside the Muribahal police station in Odisha’s Balangir district. The incident has raised serious concerns about security protocols within police stations.
The accused, identified as Magasir Parabhoi from Dholmandal village under Turekela police limits, reportedly assaulted Constable Sudama Nag with a wooden log late at night. The attack occurred while Parabhoi was in custody for his alleged involvement in a kidnapping case.
According to police sources, Parabhoi and his wife had visited Kumbhari village to meet a girl for their son’s marriage. However, when the girl’s family rejected the proposal due to her young age, the couple allegedly kidnapped the girl and fled the scene. Acting on a complaint, the Muribahal police rescued the girl from the railway platform and detained the couple.
While in custody, Parabhoi launched a sudden and violent attack on Constable Nag, causing severe injuries. Though he tried to escape, police managed to apprehend him. Nag was rushed to Bhima Bhoi Medical College in Balangir for treatment. Kantabanji SDPO has since launched a thorough investigation.
