Baramba Block Chairman Raghupati Mohanty joins BJP
Bhubaneswar, Dec 2: In a significant political shift, Baramba Block Chairman Raghupati Mohanty, along with numerous sarpanchs and samiti members from Cuttack district’s Baramba, joined the BJP just hours after resigning from the BJD. The leaders formally joined the saffron camp at the BJP state headquarters in Bhubaneswar, in the presence of state president Manmohan Samal and Baramba MLA Bijay Dal Behera.
Explaining his decision, Mohanty said, “I, along with many sarpanches and samiti members, have joined the BJP inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s development agenda. As representatives of the people, it is our duty to support the path of progress.”
Earlier, Mohanty had resigned from the BJD, citing dissatisfaction in a letter addressed to the party president. In a social media post, he remarked, “My services are no longer required in the party’s organizational and political activities.”
A majority of sarpanchs and samiti members from 38 panchayats in Baramba attended the Mishran Parba, with others expressing interest in joining soon.
