Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena resigns, cites personal reasons
Bhubaneswar, July 6: Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Bhubaneswar, Jagmohan Meena has submitted his resignation to the Odisha Government, citing personal reasons, according to official sources. The resignation of the senior IPS officer has come as a surprise to the police establishment, though the State Government is yet to take a final decision on accepting it.
Meena, a 2013-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Odisha cadre, reportedly tendered his resignation recently. While the exact reasons behind his decision have not been officially disclosed, sources indicate that he may be planning to join a private company owned by a close relative in his native Rajasthan.
During his career, Meena has served in several key positions in the Odisha Police. He previously held the post of Superintendent of Police (SP) in Angul and Ganjam districts before serving as Deputy Commissioner of Police in the Cuttack Urban Police District. On February 28, 2025, he was appointed as the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bhubaneswar.
His resignation comes at a time when the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police has been facing public scrutiny over its handling of the recent broad daylight murder of Railway Constable Soumya Ranjan Swain in the Balianta area.
Police officials have not issued any formal statement regarding the resignation, and further details are awaited. The government is expected to take a decision on Meena's resignation after completing the necessary administrative process.
