Tributes paid to martyr Baji Rout; state-level celebration planned

Bhubaneswar, Oct 5: On Saturday, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi paid rich tributes to the martyred patriot Baji Rout on his birthday, announcing that the state government will celebrate 'Saheed Baji Rout Jayanti' at the state level in the near future.
Recognizing Baji Rout as Odisha's youngest freedom fighter, the Chief Minister emphasized that his dedication, sacrifice, and struggle have yet to be honored officially. He stated, "In the coming days, we will celebrate the birth anniversary of Shaheed Baji Rout with great care as a state-level ceremony. Successfully implementing this program will be a fitting tribute to his legacy." The announcement was made during a birth anniversary event organized by the Sanskrutika Parishada at Jayadev Bhavan.
Additionally, Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj announced the construction of a life-size statue of Baji Rout in his village of Nilakhanthapur in the Bhuban block of Dhenkanal district.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also paid tribute to Baji Rout, who was gunned down by British police during the freedom struggle, and urged the Majhi government to formally honor all legendary figures from Odisha.
