Uniform distribution to be completed before summer vacation: Odisha govt issues strict directive
Bhubaneswar, Mar 27: The School and Mass Education Department has issued clear instructions to ensure that school uniforms reach students well before the summer vacation, aiming to avoid delays witnessed last year. In the previous academic session, many students received their uniforms almost during the annual examinations, leading to inconvenience for both students and parents.
Taking serious note of the lapse, School and Mass Education Minister Nityanand Gond has directed all District Collectors and District Education Officers (DEOs) to expedite the process. In a letter addressed to district authorities, the Minister stressed the need to complete procurement, stitching, and distribution of uniforms within the stipulated timeline for the 2026–27 academic year.
He highlighted that delays in the past were due to lapses in procurement and execution, which disrupted the schedule. Emphasising accountability, he called for proactive measures at every stage to ensure timely delivery.
The department has also instructed district administrations to closely monitor the entire process to avoid bottlenecks. Officials have been asked to maintain strict oversight and coordination so that students receive their uniforms on time, ensuring a smoother and more efficient start to the academic session.
