Odisha Vigilance arrests deputy director of mines for crores in DA

Bhubaneswar, Sept 3: Odisha Vigilance officers have arrested Dharanidhar Nayak, Deputy Director of Mines (DDM) at Talcher in Angul district, for allegedly possessing assets far exceeding his known income.
The Vigilance department’s investigation uncovered an extensive portfolio of assets owned by Nayak. Among the seized properties are two multi-storeyed buildings, a 3-BHK flat valued at approximately Rs.1.30 crore, and a duplex of 1800 sqft in Bhubaneswar. Additionally, he owned two market complexes with 19 shops, 11 plots of land, cash totaling over Rs.9.85 lakhs, deposits amounting to Rs.53.53 lakhs, and household items valued at Rs.54.70 lakhs.
Nayak could not provide a satisfactory explanation for his wealth, leading to his arrest. The Cuttack Vigilance Police have registered a case against him. Nayak is scheduled to appear in court today to face charges related to the disproportionate assets.
