Teenager detained for beheading man over opposition to love affair
Bhubaneswar, Aug 29: The Khandagiri police on Thursday detained a Plus II student accused of beheading a man who opposed his relationship with the man's niece.
The incident occurred late Wednesday night in Jagannath Nagar under the Khandagiri police limits in Khurda district.
The deceased has been identified as Jaga Mallick. Police have detained the accused for further interrogation.
According to police reports, the accused was involved in a relationship with Jaga's niece, a relationship Jaga strongly disapproved of, leading to frequent arguments. On the night of the incident, the accused lay in wait for Jaga and attacked him with a sword, beheading him on the spot as Jaga was returning home.
Upon receiving the information, a police team arrived at the scene, discovering Jaga's beheaded body on the road. The body was sent to Capital Hospital for post-mortem.
After a two-hour search, police apprehended the accused from a nearby location. Authorities are expected to interrogate the accused further to uncover more details about the incident.
