BJP intends to stop Mission Shakti and BSKY if elected: Pandian

Bhubaneswar, May 28: 5T Chairman Karthik Pandian criticized the BJP's actions during a meeting held on Tuesday, according to reports. Pandian stated that the people of Odisha do not want Lord Jagannath and the temple dragged into politics.

Pandian accused visiting BJP leaders and Union Ministers of insulting the Chief Minister and showing disrespect, which he claimed is disapproved by the people of Odisha. He further alleged that the BJP intends to halt the Mission Shakti program if they come to power, referencing the BJP's call to stop Mission Shakti during elections.

Additionally, Pandian highlighted the BJP's plan to replace the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) with Ayushman Bharat Yojana. He argued that while Ayushman Bharat caters only to Below Poverty Line (BPL) families, the BSKY scheme benefits 90 percent of the state's population. Pandian asserted that if the BJD is re-elected for a sixth term, the BSKY Naveen card would ensure inclusivity for all.

Pandian emphasized the Naveen government's commitment to the youth, citing the establishment of 5T schools and colleges, the youth budget, and the launch of the Nua-O and student scholarship schemes for 98 percent of children. He claimed that the BJP plans to discontinue these initiatives, noting a lack of youth-focused promises in their election manifesto.

Furthermore, Pandian mentioned the formation of Special Development Councils (SDCs) for tribal identification by the Chief Minister. He criticized the BJP for not forming SDCs in other states with significant tribal populations and warned that the BJP would dismantle these councils if they gained power, disrupting the current peace in Odisha. He also accused the BJP of including individuals involved in criminal activities in their ranks.

Pandian concluded by asserting that the BJP is unsettled by the BJD's election manifesto, which promises free electricity to the people of Odisha.
