BJP to go solo in Odisha elections: Manmohan Samal announces independent contest

Bhubaneswar, March 22: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has declared its intention to contest independently across all 21 Lok Sabha and 147 Assembly constituencies in Odisha.
Manmohan Samal, President of the BJP State Unit, conveyed this decision in a statement posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) today.
"Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is committed to contesting independently in all 21 Lok Sabha and 147 Assembly seats, aiming to foster the development of both India and Odisha, fulfilling the hopes, expectations, and aspirations of 4.5 crore Odiyas," stated Samal in his social media post.
Expressing gratitude towards the Naveen Patnaik-led Biju Janata Dal (BJD) for its support to the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on various national issues over the past decade, Samal highlighted the accelerated development and welfare initiatives witnessed under "double-engine" governments across the country.
However, Samal noted that in Odisha, many welfare schemes initiated by the Modi government are failing to reach the grassroots level, thereby depriving the state's underprivileged populace of their benefits.
"We disagree with the State government on several matters pertaining to Odia pride, Odisha’s glory, and the state’s interests," added the BJP State Unit President.
