Angul, Jan 13: In a disturbing turn of events, a man was apprehended on Saturday for allegedly brutally murdering his 70-year-old mother with a club at Ghosara Mugamala Sahi, situated within the jurisdiction of the Kishorenagar police in the Angul district.

The victim has been identified as Pankajini Pradhan, and the accused, Abani Pradhan, has been taken into custody by the police.

According to reports, the heinous act transpired when Pankajini refused to relinquish the money she had received as part of her old age pension to her son, Abani. In response to her refusal, Abani reportedly used a club to bludgeon his mother to death. Following the crime, he buried her lifeless body in an abandoned well located in the backyard of their residence.Upon receiving information about this gruesome incident, the deceased woman's brother, Manoj from Khiriakani village, promptly filed a written complaint with the Kishorenagar police.

Acting on the complaint, the police conducted an on-site investigation, leading to the arrest of Abani. The authorities are currently in the process of recovering Pankajini's body from the abandoned well.
