Bay of Bengal braces for low-pressure system from November 15

Bhubaneswar, Nov 9: On November 14, an upper air cyclonic circulation is expected to form over the southeast Bay of Bengal. There’s a possibility that it may transform into a low-pressure area by the following day, with a chance of further intensification. This information was provided by the Centre for Environment and Climate (CEC) at Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA).
The system is likely to move in a northwesterly direction, but there’s a chance it might alter its course and head northward starting from November 16. South Odisha districts could experience light to moderate rain beginning on November 15, followed by the likelihood of heavy rainfall from the next day.
As the system continues its northward movement, coastal and north Odisha districts may witness widespread precipitation, including heavy rainfall in certain areas starting from the night of November 16.
Gajapati, Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Puri, Nayagarh, Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, and Keonjhar are likely to experience heavy rainfall between November 16 and 18.
Additionally, model analysis indicates that the prevailing weather conditions characterized by a decrease in night temperature and an increase in day temperature will persist until November 12 due to the presence of a prevailing anticyclone over central India.
