The Chief Minister joined the programme along with members of the public and listened to the Prime Minister’s address, which touched upon several issues concerning the country and highlighted inspiring initiatives undertaken by citizens across different parts of India.
During the latest episode, Prime Minister Modi spoke about the importance of building a drug-free India and called for greater public participation in the fight against substance abuse. He also highlighted various citizen-driven initiatives, India’s rich history and cultural heritage, cleanliness, women’s empowerment and other issues of national importance.
CM Majhi appreciated the messages conveyed through the programme and stressed the importance of collective efforts in addressing social challenges. He particularly welcomed the focus on creating a drug-free society, saying that such an objective requires active participation from communities, families, educational institutions and young people.
The Chief Minister also highlighted Odisha’s efforts to tackle drug-related activities. The state government has been taking measures against drug trafficking and illegal cultivation of cannabis, while encouraging greater awareness among young people about the harmful consequences of substance abuse.
The programme also drew attention to India’s cultural and historical heritage. He said that the achievements of people working at the grassroots level demonstrate how community participation can contribute to larger national goals.
Prime Minister Modi also remembered legendary Bengali actor Uttam Kumar ahead of his birth centenary, highlighting his contribution to Indian cinema. The mention of the celebrated actor formed part of the programme’s wider focus on India’s cultural heritage and personalities who have made a lasting impact on society.
The Chief Minister’s participation in Mann Ki Baat comes as part of the state government’s emphasis on public participation and awareness-building. The programme provides an opportunity for citizens to connect with national issues while also bringing attention to inspiring stories from different regions.
