Bhubaneswar, Aug 1: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday conducted an aerial survey of flood-affected regions across more than 12 blocks in five districts to assess the extent of damage and review the ongoing relief and rescue operations. He was accompanied by Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari and the Special Relief Commissioner during the inspection.

After the survey, the Chief Minister said several villages were still surrounded by floodwaters, though the overall situation was showing signs of improvement. He expressed optimism that water levels would recede significantly over the next two days, allowing normalcy to return in the affected areas.

Majhi said the state government was closely monitoring the flood situation and ensuring that relief materials, food, drinking water and other essential services reached people stranded in inundated villages. He also appreciated the efforts of district administrations, disaster response teams and other agencies engaged in relief operations.

The Chief Minister directed officials to complete a comprehensive assessment of crop loss, damage to houses, public infrastructure and other affected sectors within three days after the floodwaters recede. He assured that compensation and assistance packages for farmers, families whose houses were damaged and other affected beneficiaries would be released immediately after the damage assessment reports are finalized.

Reiterating the government's commitment to supporting flood-affected families, Majhi said no eligible beneficiary would be left out of the relief and rehabilitation process, and all necessary measures would be taken to ensure speedy recovery in the affected districts.
