Bhubaneswar, Aug 1: Elaborate security arrangements have been put in place for President Droupadi Murmu's three-day visit to Odisha from August 3 to 5, with around 40 platoons of police personnel to be deployed across Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, Commissioner of Police Dr. Suresh Dev Datta Singh said on Saturday.

Addressing mediapersons, the Police Commissioner said the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissionerate has prepared a comprehensive multi-layered security plan to ensure the President's visit remains smooth, safe and incident-free. The security cover will extend to all programme venues, transit routes and other sensitive locations under the Commissionerate's jurisdiction.

Dr. Singh said adequate police personnel will be deployed at Biju Patnaik International Airport, Bhubaneswar Railway Station and other key locations. Tight security will also be maintained along the routes connecting the airport, railway station and venues where the President is scheduled to attend official programmes.

He informed that Superintendent of Police (SP)-rank officers will supervise security arrangements at all venues and along designated routes, while Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP)-rank officers will monitor traffic regulation and route management. Senior police officers will remain stationed at the airport and railway station to oversee the President's arrival and departure.

The Commissioner said he would personally supervise the overall security arrangements to ensure foolproof protection throughout the visit. Advance traffic regulation and route lining have also been planned to facilitate the President's movement while minimising inconvenience to commuters. President Murmu is scheduled to participate in several official engagements in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack during her visit.
