Bhubaneswar, Aug 1: The Odisha government has directed officials to complete a comprehensive assessment of flood-related damage and submit detailed reports within three days to facilitate timely relief and rehabilitation measures. Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister Rabi Narayan Naik announced the decision on Saturday, stating that the government is working on a war footing to support flood-affected families.

The Minister said field-level officials, including Block Development Officers (BDOs), Panchayat Executive Officers (PEOs) and Revenue Inspectors (RIs), have been tasked with conducting detailed surveys of damaged roads, houses and public infrastructure in the affected areas.

Speaking to reporters, Naik said officials have been instructed to carry out accurate ground-level assessments and submit their findings within the stipulated time. Based on these reports, the government will extend financial assistance and other support to eligible beneficiaries without delay.

He said priority would be given to families whose houses have been completely damaged and to villages where road connectivity has been disrupted by floodwaters. Restoration of damaged roads and other essential infrastructure has already begun in several areas to ensure normalcy is restored at the earliest.

The Minister said Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has directed all departments to work in close coordination and ensure timely relief reaches every affected household. He added that the government machinery remains on high alert and is functioning round the clock to address the needs of flood-hit communities.

To ensure uninterrupted access to safe drinking water, Naik said the government has deployed water tankers and mobile water supply vans in affected areas until normal water supply systems are restored.
